The Hungarian Multicultural Center, Inc. (HMC), nonprofit organization, invites interested visual artists and writers to submit application for its residency programs in Balatonfured, Hungary. Its principal focus is an international residency program to which artists from around the world are invited. The goal is to provide a supportive community with uninterrupted time to work. The residencies offer participants a unique opportunity to interact with other artists representing a variety of cultures and backgrounds.

Approximately ten - ten (20) artists are invited for each section. Your residency will be in the city of Balatonfured, Ferencsik Janos Zeneiskola (F.J. Music School) at Lake Balaton.

APPLICATION AND SELECTION PROCESS
February 15/04: Last day to receive entry, slides, fee and SASE.
FEBRUARY 14/04: Accepted/Rejected notification cards mailed.
Eligibility: Open to all professional artists. All visual media will be accepted, with the exception of craft and jewelry.
Jurors: Beata Szechy, Hegyi Rita, and Laszlo Cserep will make their selection from submitted slides, resumes and statements/writers 5 pages sample writing.
Slides: Work will be juried by 35mm slides in standard mounts (no glass). Label slides with name, title of work, medium, dimensions, top and date of work. Slides of accepted work will be retained for permanent file.
A SASE must be enclosed.

Call for Projects: Exhibit 4:Play at The Digital Hub


Call for Projects for Exhibition of Digital technology projects in The
Digital Hub Project Office, 10 - 13 Thomas Street.


In December 2002, The Digital Hub launched the first in its series of
exhibitions showcasing digital technology in its new project office on
Thomas Street.

During 2003 The Digital Hub will continue to exhibit work that
demonstrates and explores the creative potential of digital technologies
on an ongoing basis. These exhibitions will provide a unique platform
for both emerging and established artists, filmmakers, designers,
programmers, developers, musicians and animators from many diverse
backgrounds to exhibit their work.

Exhibit4:Play

Exhibit4 showcase will focus on Gaming, Games sector and games related
projects.
Please send us:
· games for web, PC, networks, mobile, consol, etc.
* projects that are research based, experimental, educational,
conceptually and technically innovative,
* projects and products that take games and game play to new
places and domains where gaming has not previously being used i.e
Education.
Projects can cover a broad range of disciplines and may include
graphics, product design, fashion, furniture, architectural, web,
interaction and sound design, motion graphics, film, animation, special
effects, commercial production, advertising and computer programming as
long as they address the gaming brief.
Closing Date for receipt of submissions is 15th September 2003
In order to be considered for selection your submission must include the

* The title of the work
* A synopsis/short description of the work (about 100 words)
* A one line description of your work
* A 100 word biography
* Your postal address and daytime phone number

We are also looking for submissions for video installations to be shown
at the 'Projected Windows' site, No. 157 Thomas St. Dublin. Ireland.

The final exhibits will be chosen by a selection panel and those that
are chosen to exhibit will be awarded an honorarium of EUR1,000. This

Learning Initiative. Should the fee be waived it will be donated to the
Liberties Learning Initiative.

Those interested in exhibiting can present their ideas either as a
finished piece of work, work in progress or as a proposal. For the
showcase, turnaround time to complete the project is three weeks.

Successful exhibitors should be prepared to present their projects in a
series of talks and that will take place in 2003.

Noos Movement presents ".MOV Festival 2003", a digital
film festival. It will be held under the auspices of
Hokkaido Foundation For Cultural Activities with the aim
of discovering talented creators and providing an
opportunity to show their works. We invite all creators
in the world. World-class creators will select
outstanding works from all the submissions.
The cafe "Soso", produced by the online magazine "Shift"
that introduces the forefront cultural information from
Sapporo to overseas, is the venue of this cafe mixed
cinema event. The works will be introduced for one month
from (Sat.) the 1st to (Sun.) the 30th of November at Soso.
The deadline is the 10th of October.

Canon Digital Creators Contest 2003

"Canon Digital Creators Contest" has been started since
2000 to look for superb digital imaging works.
Last year, about 5,000 works were submitted. Now, the
third competition has just kicked off.
The contest is divided into four divisions: Digital Photo
(Print), Digital Graphic/ Illustration (Print), Digital
movie and Web. Entries can be made in New York, Tokyo,
Amsterdam, or Hong Kong this year. The forefront
creators, such as Tomato, Scott Ross, Katsura Moshino,
Joshua Davis and Hiroyuki Nakano will judge works.
The deadline is the 4th of September.

2003 Media Arts Festival, Agency for Cultural Affairs

Entry to "Media Arts Festival" has began the 1st of August.
Last year's festival received works from 20 countries.
The festival has been attracting more creators each year.
There are four divisions: Art, Entertainment, Animation
and Manga. Amateurs and professionals are encouraged to
participate regardless of whether their work is
commercial or not. If you are not an artist, there is
another way to participate in this festival. You can
recommend works you like through a form located on the

Eyebeam artist-in-residence program, open call, deadline September 15.

Artists in Residence Program - Open Call

Eyebeam is pleased to announce an open call for the Fall 2003 round
of its Artists in Residence (AIR) program. Participants in Eyebeam's
AIR program develop multidisciplinary work that ranges from moving
image, sound and physical computing works, to technical prototypes,
performances, workshops, and public interventions. Residents receive
24/7 studio access, an honorarium, access to cutting-edge tools,
expert technical support from Eyebeam staff, production help from
apprentices and the option to show work at Eyebeam.

The residencies will begin in early October 2003.
