INTRODUCTION
The 2004 edition of the AsoloArtFilmFestival will be held in Asolo (Treviso), Italy, from 20 to
26 September 2004. The Festival is part of the cultural tradition and a continuation of the "Festival Internazionale del Film sull'Arte e di Biografie di Artisti", which was set up in 1973 by the Treviso Provincial Council under the direction of Flavia Paulon and had achieved great international success over the years finally closing at the end of the nineties. Thirty years later and in the light of advances in visual languages, the Festival is now being relaunched under the name "AsoloArtFilmFestival": an international showcase, and competition with prizes, of film production dedicated to the visual arts in all the variety of their expression and to the music.
The festival is subdivided into four sections:
· FILMS ON ART for works on the visual arts and music
· ARTISTS' LIVES for works of historical reconstruction and critical interpretation of people from the world of art and music
· VIDEOART and COMPUTER ART for works using electronic or computer technologies as a means of direct artistic expression
· PRODUCTIONS made by recognised film schools, specialist secondary schools and universities, regarding the fields of visual arts and music
Anna Maria Cerrato is the artistic director of the Festival, which is conceived and organized by the cultural association AsoloInternationalArtFestival (A.I.A.F), a cultural non-profit association with legal personality (D.G.R. del Veneto del 18/04/03 N° 59741.03), presided over by Lionello Puppi.
RULES
Only works produced after 1 January 2002 will be admitted to the competition.
The works must come within one of the four sections which have to be specified on the entry form. However, the judging committee reserves the right to move a film from one section to the other in case of non compliance.
The following are required for participation in the competition:
· the completed registration form
· a VHS or DVD copy of the work (in standard PAL)
· a short biography and essential filmography of the film-maker/s

The above material must be sent no later than 30 April 2004, at the participant's cost. The postmark will be sufficient proof for works received after this date. In the case of incomplete delivery, admission to the competition will be refused on the unquestionable decision of the organising committee.
Materials sent will not be returned, but be held in the Festival's archive as documentation.
The required materials must be sent to:
AsoloArtFilmFestival,
Foresto Vecchio, 8
31011 Asolo (TV) - Italy.
A special judging commission will pre-select the works received.

This copy, if in a language other than Italian or English, must have subtitles in Italian or English. Omission of subtitles where required will lead to automatic exclusion from the competition. The copies of the selected works must be received by the Festival organisation by 7 September 2004, otherwise they will be excluded. The copies sent will not be returned, but be held in the Festival's archive.
A special jury, composed of five members, named by the Presidency of the A.I.A.F. and chosen from renowned experts, will assign the following prizes - consisting of silver and bronze plates, especially designed by an internationally renowned artist - to the works admitted:

With their participation in the competition, the copyright holders of the selected works implicitly authorise the free use of short sequences of up to two minutes on the Festival's internet site, on TV news and TV specials for promotion of the Festival. They also freely authorise additional non-profit screenings of the work.
The Festival organisation will take the utmost care of the copies received, but accepts no responsibility for any damages that may occur to these during delivery at the Festival venues.
Participating in the festival implies acceptance of the rules.
The Court of Treviso will be competent in case of controversies.

The 2004 Version>04 festival/convergence theme of invisibleNetworks addresses
the concepts, aesthetics, politics, technologies and systems of secrecy and
visibility in contemporary cultures. Version>04: invisibleNetworks seeks
creative engagements with these parameters and power structures. Through
discussions, exhibitions, interventions, networking and resource sharing,
Version>04: invisibleNetworks brings together those who investigate the
unseen, making known what has been hidden, as well as those who choose to
remain camouflaged.
STATEMENT
Version>04: invisibleNetworks seeks to uncover and open channels of
discussion, hidden orders, unseen hands, blackboxes, backdoors, wormholes and
access points. Participants in Version>04: invisibleNetworks will function as
nodes and hubs in this amorphous system and construct this years'
decentralized convergence.
For two weeks an invisible network will occupy and transform the city of
Chicago. Collectives and nomadic societies of artmakers, musicans, resisters,
bikers, radical cheerleaders, activists, journalists, theorists, cultural
workers, performance artists, urban shamans, political immigrants,
programmers and mediamakers are invited to swarm Chicago in order to build,
deconstruct, and make public the networks of contemporary social, political
and cultural practices that are reweaving strategies for building another
future.
What secrets hide in/on the invisibleNetworks, behind the anonymous logins
and under the masks that we wear? What are the politics, aesthetics and
conceptual underpinnings of hiding and/or revealing? What tools are available
to analyze those hegemonic forces that wish to remain concealed? Self-
organization, resistant strategies and absorption concern these networks as
they are mobilized by individuals, collectives, corporations and nation-
states.
During Version>04 the public and private spaces will reveal the
communications and strategies of disobedients, government agencies,
psychogeographers, surveillance players, public interventionists, rogue
agents, space hijackers, covert operators, digital detourners and urban
planners.
HOW TO PARTICIPATE
Call for Artists/Activist media engagements
Call for Presentations and Panels and Workshops

Women’s City
The aim of the exhibition is to present women in different colors from different points of view overcoming the stereotypes. The project is international. Artists from different countries will take part in it.
The 21st century like the previous ones is carrying in itself the mutual relations and conflicts between women and men.
From the very beginning the fact of conflict and irreplaceableness has existed. Since early humankind history the myths about woman have been created, in which the woman’s image corresponded to the man’s social-economical and historical position.
The myths are based on stereotypes, represent women as a mercantile and obeying object:
· “Eve complex” – the fist and the guilty.
· “ Maria Magdalena complex” – from prostitute to saint.
· Witch or doctor.
· ect.
The Radical Feministic myth was created against that false illusion, which was the mirror reflection of the distorted conceptions.
Besides myths there are also real myths:
· Female features in man and male features in woman.
· Mathematics of woman’s love.
· Daily life for woman as a field of creating activity.
· etc.
The aim of the exhibition is to present women in different colors from different points of view overcoming the stereotypes.
“Women’s City” project anticipates participation of both female and male artists, which (we hope) will give chance for a newer mutual understanding.
The habitants of “Women’s City” will be art works (installations, video, performance, object and ect.) – proving or denying myths, reality, mysteries.
The exhibition will take place in June, 1- 15, NPAK (The Armenian Center for Contemporary Experimental Art) , Yerevan, Armenia.
The project is international. Artists from different countries will take part in it.
For applying please send the concept and description of the work, the photo of the work (if it already exist) and/or 3 photos of your recent works and CV.
Deadline for application is the end of February 2004.
Selection will be done by curators and notification will be by e-mailed to the applicants during March 2004.
Non-local applicants should be prepared to arrange the transportation of their own work. Unfortunately we also can’t cover the traveling and accommodation expenses, but we will be happy if the non-local artists will find possibilities to be present in the exhibition and take part in discussions.
Please don’t hesitate to contact us if you have any questions.

UNESCO, International Fund for the Promotion of Culture (IFPC)
UNESCO-ASCHBERG Bursaries for Artists
Bursairies enable artists' residencies throughout the world within the network of hosts. For 2004/2005, the program proposes 57 fellowships offered by 48 partner institutions from 27 countries.
http://www.unesco.org/culture/aschberg/
Posebni pogoji: The eligibility depends on the host - worth checking!
The Programme UNESCO-Aschberg Bursaries for Artists was created in 1994 to open new prospects of career to young artists in all disciplines. It enables to promote these possibilities by offering them the opportunity to continue their training in specialized institutions. This programme is under the aegis of the International Fund for the Promotion of Culture (IFPC) of UNESCO.
At the beginning of the 1960's, the Swedish philanthropist couple Aschberg, made a donation of a mansion located in Ile-de-France to UNESCO. Then the mansion was sold in 1992. In the memory of the patrons and in conformity with the spirit of their donation, the governing bodies of UNESCO decided to allocate the totality of the interests perceived from the capital of the sale to the creation of the UNESCO-Aschberg Bursaries for Artists. The fellowships are co-financed by the International Fund for the Promotion of Culture and an international network of partner institutions specialized in the training of artists. Since its creation, the programme has seen the number of fellowships granted and applications received regularly increase. Hundreds of young artists have already benefited from the programme.
The growing success of UNESCO-Aschberg Bursaries for Artists has encouraged 6 new institutions of quality to join the network. Simultaneously certain partner institutions have taken the decision to increase the number of fellowships proposed and to expand their cooperation to new disciplines.
Selection procedure is shared between an International Artistic Committee which meets once a year under the supervision of the ifpc, and the host institutions. The meeting takes place every year in June-July.
The announcement of the each fellowship has been examined so that the residency be presented as thoroughly as possible, and to give sound information on the host institution, the nature of the fellowship, the profile of the artist required and procedures to be followed to submit one's application.
The results of the final selection will be given as of the month of July every year.
The full list of hosting institutions available on the UNESCO website.
Rok prijave: The deadline for most submissions is 30 April, but some close earlier.
